LA Wallet Approved for TSA, Federal ID Use

Louisiana residents can now use the LA Wallet app as a valid form of digital identification at TSA security checkpoints, federal buildings, and courthouses across the United States, following certification by the TSA. The approval is effective for three years, after which the TSA will review LA Wallet for continued compliance. The app is accepted at over 250 airports nationwide and allows residents to carry digital versions of their driver's license and other state-issued cards. However, residents must still present identification that meets federal REAL ID requirements to board flights or access certain federal facilities. The TSA currently accepts digital IDs from 14 states and Puerto Rico, but does not accept Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for this purpose. Officials highlighted the convenience and technological advancement this brings for Louisiana travelers.
