Aces Take 2-0 Lead in 2025 Finals
The Las Vegas Aces lead the 2025 WNBA Finals 2-0 after beating the Phoenix Mercury 89-86 in Game 1 and 91-78 in Game 2 in Las Vegas. Game 2 featured Jackie Young’s historic third quarter (21 points) as she finished with 32, while A’ja Wilson posted a 32-point, 15-rebound double-double. In Game 1 Las Vegas rallied behind Wilson and reserve Dana Evans (21 points), with Evans becoming the first player in WNBA Finals history to record five 3-pointers and four steals; Jewell Loyd added 18 and the Aces’ bench outscored Phoenix’s reserves 41-16. Phoenix led much of Game 1 and had late chances — Satou Sabally missed a potential tying 3 at the buzzer — but Las Vegas’s late zone adjustments and depth decided the game. The Aces’ bench resurgence and Wilson’s dominant play have tilted series odds toward Las Vegas as the series shifts to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4. Off the court, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert used the Finals platform to stress the league’s commitment to players and continued growth.
