Ohio Deputy Killed, Suspect Wounded in Shooting
Morrow County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31, was shot and killed on May 26 while responding to a domestic violence call at a home in Marengo, Ohio. The suspect, Brian Michael Wilson, 31, who has prior domestic violence and firearm convictions, exchanged gunfire with Sherrer and was hospitalized in serious condition. Deputy Sherrer had served with the sheriff's office since May 2021. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting. Community members and state officials have expressed condolences and praised Sherrer's service. This was the second fatal law enforcement-involved shooting in Ohio that night.
