Former Pueblo Officer Arrested for Child Exploitation

Gerardo Mejia, a former officer with the Pueblo Police Department, was arrested on January 30, 2025, by the FBI on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, specifically for possession and distribution, classified as a Class 3 felony. Upon being notified of his arrest, the Pueblo PD launched an internal investigation and placed Mejia on administrative leave; however, he resigned the same day. Police Chief Chris Noeller emphasized that Mejia's alleged actions are a significant violation of trust and do not reflect the department's values. The case will be prosecuted by the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office, and Mejia is currently held without bond. The Pueblo PD has stated that they will collaborate with the FBI to ensure accountability. No further comments will be made by the police regarding the ongoing investigation.
