Nottingham Forest Midfielder Danilo Completes £21.7m Transfer To Botafogo

Nottingham Forest have agreed to sell Brazilian midfielder Danilo to Botafogo for around £21.7 million, ending his two-and-a-half-year spell at the club. Danilo joined Forest from Palmeiras in January 2023 for approximately £16 million and made 62 appearances, mostly in his first full season, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His 2024-25 season was disrupted by a serious ankle injury sustained early in the campaign, leading to a lengthy layoff and difficulty regaining his place in the team. A potential summer move to Lyon collapsed due to the French club's financial issues and temporary demotion to Ligue 2. This transfer is part of an ongoing player exchange between Nottingham Forest and clubs within John Textor's Eagle Football network, which includes recent transfers between Forest, Botafogo, and Lyon. Forest have thanked Danilo for his contributions and wished him well as they continue to refresh their squad with new signings.
