Pilou Asbæk Joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Crime Thriller Blood on Snow
Danish actor Pilou Asbæk, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Foundation, has joined the cast of the indie film adaptation of Jo Nesbo's 2015 crime thriller novel Blood on Snow. The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, recognized for True Detective and No Time to Die, and features a star-studded cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Eva Green, Ben Mendelsohn, and Emma Laird. The story centers on hitman Olav, played by Taylor-Johnson, who falls in love with his mob boss's wife after being hired to kill her. Asbæk replaced Tom Hardy, who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts, though the details of Asbæk's role have not been disclosed. Production began earlier this year in Latvia, with a script co-written by Nesbo and Ben Power and producers including Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer. Asbæk described his experience on the film as incredible and expressed pride in being part of a project with so much heart.
