Three Arrested After Two Die in Clayton-Le-Woods Motorbike Crash

A fatal collision occurred on the A6 Preston Road in Clayton-Le-Woods involving a BMW 1000XR motorbike and two pedestrians just after 10:30 pm on August 7. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s from Macclesfield, and one of the pedestrians, a man in his 60s from Clayton-Le-Woods, died at the scene, while a woman in her 60s was seriously injured and hospitalized in stable condition. Lancashire Police arrested three men present in the area at the time—aged 53, 57, and 46, from Whittle-le-Woods, Middlewich, and Congleton respectively—on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving; all have since been released under investigation pending further inquiries. Detective Sergeant Joe Ghigi emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area between 10:15 pm and 10:45 pm to assist the inquiry. Specially trained officers are supporting the victims' families during this distressing time. Police continue to seek information to clarify the circumstances that led to the tragic crash.
