Burglars Flee After Breaking Into Occupied Palo Alto Home

Palo Alto police are investigating an attempted burglary at a home on the 2300 block of Carmel Drive that occurred around 9 p.m. on a recent Friday while the residents, a man and woman in their 20s, were home. The burglars gained entry by smashing a rear sliding glass door but fled after the male resident confronted one masked suspect who began to enter his room. The female resident also saw a flashlight beam and someone running down the hall before exiting the house. Police reviewed security footage showing an unknown number of suspects arriving and fleeing in a sedan. Nothing was reported stolen, and investigators are actively seeking information from the public through multiple contact methods including anonymous tips. The case remains under investigation with no suspects currently identified or apprehended.
