Multiple House, Encampment and Brush Fires Across U.S.
Firefighters are actively battling a house fire in the 400 block of Story Road in Houston County, Ga., after a 6:25 a.m. call; officials say the scene is active and ask the public to avoid the area while details remain limited. In New Cumberland, units responded just after 2 a.m. to a one-alarm house fire on the 2100 block of Allen Street; the house was believed evacuated, injuries are unknown, and the cause is unclear. Central Bell County Fire Rescue brought a fully involved mobile home and surrounding brush under control in about 15 minutes Sunday night, and neighbors identified individuals on the property who were arrested on illegal-burning charges. Pflugerville crews quickly contained and extinguished a light brush fire at 20430 Cameron Rd., which burned roughly a quarter-acre of grass and a mowed corn field, with Brush Truck 261 handling final mop-up. Tulsa firefighters climbed a fence to access and extinguish a fully involved encampment fire near S. 59th West Ave. and Charles Page Blvd.; there were no injuries, the cause is undetermined, and crews took precautions to limit smoke exposure.
