Communities Nationwide Honor Veterans Day

Communities across the Aurora area and surrounding suburbs are organizing various events to honor Veterans Day on Monday. Aurora will host its annual parade featuring a keynote speech from former POW Jessica Lynch, followed by a tribute ceremony at GAR Memorial Hall. Other local ceremonies include those in North Aurora, St. Charles, and Yorkville, with activities ranging from military salutes to community gatherings. In the south and southwest suburbs, ceremonies are planned in Alsip, Lansing, New Lenox, and Oak Lawn, with some events including veteran talks at schools. Oconee County and Winder in Georgia will also host observances, featuring guest speakers and special presentations to veterans. Meanwhile, Cheboygan County and Petoskey in Michigan will celebrate the day with multiple ceremonies, breakfasts for veterans, and community engagement activities.
