US airstrike kills senior al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria
The U.S. military confirmed that it conducted a precision airstrike on February 15 in northwest Syria, killing a senior finance and logistics official of the Al-Qaeda affiliate, Hurras al-Din (HaD). U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the operation aimed to disrupt terrorist activities against U.S. and allied forces. This strike follows a similar operation on January 30, which also targeted a high-ranking operative within the same group. Hurras al-Din, designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2019, recently confirmed its allegiance to Al-Qaeda. CENTCOM emphasized its commitment to pursuing terrorists to protect U.S. personnel and interests in the region. The identities of the targets were not disclosed in the statements from CENTCOM.
