Starbucks to Streamline Menu and Announce Layoffs

Starbucks is set to streamline its menu by removing 13 beverages, including several Frappuccinos, the Royal English Breakfast Latte, and the White Hot Chocolate, starting March 4, 2024. This reduction is part of a broader initiative to cut 30% of the menu by September 2025, aiming to simplify operations, improve efficiency, and refocus on core offerings. The decision, driven by low demand and preparation complexity, will make way for new, innovative items while reducing customer wait times. CEO Brian Niccol also announced a layoff of 1,100 corporate employees to enhance operational effectiveness. Despite these cuts, Starbucks plans to introduce new seasonal items, such as the Iced Cherry Chai and Jalapeno Chicken Pocket, in the upcoming spring menu. These changes reflect Starbucks' strategic shift to boost sales and align more closely with customer preferences.
