MLS Sets New Attendance Record Over 11 Million

Major League Soccer (MLS) has achieved a historic attendance milestone, surpassing 11 million fans for the first time in its history during the 2024 season, eclipsing the previous record of 10.9 million set in 2023. With an average attendance of 23,240 per game, MLS has solidified its place among the world's top football leagues, driven by the popularity of international stars like Lionel Messi and initiatives to enhance fan experiences. Notable attendance figures include Sporting Kansas City's record crowd of 72,610 during a match featuring Inter Miami. Additionally, the league's expansion to 29 franchises and the introduction of fan-friendly ticket packages have contributed to this growth. The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has also seen a surge in attendance, surpassing 1.5 million this season, following a successful 2023. Both leagues are optimistic about further growth, with MLS set to add San Diego FC next season.
