Sum 41 Cancels Australian Tour Due to Illness

Sum 41 has canceled their entire Australian tour, including a co-headlining spot at the Good Things Festival, due to frontman Deryck Whibley's ongoing battle with pneumonia. The band announced the decision on December 5, expressing deep regret and stating that Whibley is too unwell to perform despite being under the care of multiple Australian doctors. The cancellation follows an earlier decision to cancel a December 4 show in Brisbane, marking a disappointing turn for fans anticipating the tour as part of Sum 41's farewell run ahead of their final concert in January 2025. While Sum 41 won’t be performing, the Good Things Festival will continue with other acts, and the band encouraged fans to enjoy the event. This health issue is particularly poignant as it recalls a similar situation in 2011 when the band was forced to cancel their appearance at the Soundwave Festival due to Whibley's health. The group is currently promoting their eighth and final album, Heaven :x: Hell, released in March 2023.
