Murfreesboro Police Arrest Six After Series of Drive-By Shootings, One Child Injured
Authorities in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, have arrested six suspects and are seeking another in connection with a series of drive-by and retaliatory shootings involving a small group of people. The incidents began with a shooting from a blue Volkswagen sedan at the Abbington Apartments, where no injuries occurred but two apartments were hit by bullets. Kevin Hatter, 20, and two 16-year-olds were arrested in connection with this initial shooting, aided by the Murfreesboro Police Department's gunshot detection technology and license plate readers. Subsequent shootings targeted mini-bike riders on Greenland Avenue and individuals at the Green Meadows Apartments, where an 11-year-old girl was injured by stray gunfire. Additional suspects, including Ke’Marion Bass, Kameron Dunnaway, and Benjamin Hicks, have been charged, while warrants remain for 19-year-old Ny’Esha Lawrence, who is still at large. The Murfreesboro Police’s Real Time Crime Center technology played a critical role in the rapid identification and arrest of suspects, highlighting the department's use of advanced tools in over 400 investigations in 2024.
