Tom Golisano Donates $85 Million to Nonprofits

Philanthropist Tom Golisano surprised representatives from 41 nonprofit organizations in Southwest Florida by announcing $85 million in unrestricted gifts during an event at Artis—Naples on November 19, 2024. The donations, which range from $150,000 to $10 million, support various causes including healthcare, education, and animal welfare. Notable recipients include Golisano Children’s Hospital and Ave Maria University, each receiving $10 million. Golisano, founder of Paychex, emphasized the importance of philanthropy, stating, 'the only wealth you keep is that which you give away,' bringing his total charitable contributions this year to $500 million and $860 million over his lifetime. The gifts are intended to empower organizations to expand their services and impact within the community. Golisano's recent philanthropy follows a $360 million donation to Upstate New York organizations announced in September 2024.
