Ripe acquires GJW Direct from Munich Re Specialty

Ripe has completed its acquisition of GJW Direct, a historic UK-based marine insurance specialist, from Munich Re Specialty, solidifying its position in the marine insurance sector. The deal, first announced in October 2024, brings GJW Direct's longstanding expertise under Ripe’s umbrella, joining other brands like Insure4Boats and Craftinsure. GJW Direct’s insurance offerings have been migrated to Ripe’s proprietary Juice platform, aiming to provide a more digital-first and streamlined customer experience. Munich Re Specialty’s decision to sell was driven by a strategic shift to focus on specialty solutions within the UK market. Both companies expressed optimism: Ripe anticipates future growth through technological integration, while Munich Re Specialty plans to advance its regional specialty strategy.
