Miami Man Arrested in Fatal Pinewood Hit-and-Run of Bicyclist
Michelson Jeancy, 45, was arrested for a fatal hit-and-run after striking and killing 63-year-old bicyclist Gregory Hughes in Pinewood, Miami-Dade. The crash occurred on August 25 around 11:30 p.m. when Jeancy, driving a 2013 Honda Civic, hit Hughes from behind as he was cycling westbound near Northwest 103rd Street. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses captured the incident, which helped authorities track Jeancy and his damaged vehicle to his Miami residence. Jeancy fled the scene without rendering aid or calling 911, but later gave a recorded confession to police. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and tampering with evidence and was held on a $20,000 bond with a public defender appointed for him. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics.
