Lil Durk Charged in Murder-for-Hire Scheme

Rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, has been arrested and is facing multiple federal charges in connection with a murder-for-hire scheme that targeted fellow rapper Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, in 2022. The charges include conspiracy, use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire, and discharging firearms, including a machine gun, in furtherance of a crime of violence. This indictment adds Durk as the lead defendant to a previous case involving five associates from his hip-hop group, Only The Family (OTF), who are also implicated in the plot. The Justice Department alleges Durk placed a bounty on Rondo's life in retaliation for the murder of OTF rapper King Von in 2020. Durk was arrested in October near Miami International Airport and remains in custody without bond, awaiting arraignment in Los Angeles. This arrest comes amidst his already complicated legal history, having faced previous murder charges that were dropped in 2019.
