India Initiates Legal Action Over Assassination Plot

The Indian government has initiated legal proceedings against an unidentified individual following a high-powered enquiry into the alleged assassination plot of Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The enquiry, prompted by information from US authorities, revealed criminal links of the individual involved, who is not publicly named. The US had implicated Vikash Yadav, a former Indian intelligence officer, in the plot, which aimed to undermine the security interests of both India and the US. The Ministry of Home Affairs received full cooperation from US authorities, exchanging visits and scrutinizing documents. Recommendations for systemic improvements and coordinated action in dealing with such security matters were also made. This development follows previous tensions between India and Canada regarding similar allegations against Indian officials.
