Nickelodeon Expands Avatar Franchise with New Series

Nickelodeon has announced a new animated series, 'Avatar: Seven Havens,' as part of the franchise's ongoing expansion, set after the events of 'The Legend of Korra.' This series will introduce a new Earthbender Avatar who is perceived as a destroyer rather than a savior due to a cataclysmic event, with the storyline focusing on her and her twin uncovering their origins to save the world's last strongholds. It will consist of 26 episodes over two seasons, maintaining the franchise's traditional storytelling style. Meanwhile, Netflix is working on the second season of its live-action 'Avatar: The Last Airbender,' following the success of the first season. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original series, new animated shorts and other content are being released, including a new battlegrounds-style game on Roblox. Original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko return to helm the series under Avatar Studios.
