South Africa DA Lays Criminal Charges Against Police Minister Mchunu

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has filed criminal charges against South African Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, following allegations of corruption and misconduct. These charges stem from statements by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who accused Mchunu and other senior police officials of links to criminal syndicates, drug cartels, and interference in police operations. Mchunu is also accused of misleading Parliament regarding his relationship with North West businessman Brown Mogotsi, who is implicated in political interference within the police. The DA emphasizes that laying these charges is part of its commitment to holding those in power accountable and protecting the rule of law. In addition to the DA, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party has also laid charges against Mchunu and another police official, highlighting a broader political pressure on the minister.
