Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has been appointed as Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer at Sauber Motorsport, which will become the factory Audi team in 2026. Binotto, who brings over 25 years of Formula 1 experience, will officially join on August 1, 2024, and will be responsible for the operational management and strategic direction of the team. This significant leadership change comes as Audi finalizes its full acquisition of Sauber and aims to enhance its F1 operations with clear management structures and efficient decision-making processes. The current heads, Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann, will depart the organization. Audi CEO Gernot Doellner expressed confidence in Binotto's ability to contribute significantly to the ambitious project.
