The Who Announces Final North American Farewell Tour With Multiple Special Guests, Adds Second Chicago Show
The Who have announced their final North American tour, titled 'The Song Is Over,' marking the end of nearly six decades of their influential rock career. The tour will begin on August 16 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and wrap up in late September in Las Vegas, with major stops across cities including Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Chicago, where a second show was added due to high demand. Special guests joining the tour vary by date and include artists such as Feist, Billy Idol, Booker T. Jones, Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, Joe Bonamassa, Candlebox, The Joe Perry Project, Tom Cochrane, and ZZ Ward. The Who recently replaced longtime drummer Zak Starkey with Scott Devours and announced the tour during a press conference in London, where they also showcased memorabilia from their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. VIP packages offering premium tickets and exclusive experiences will be available, enhancing the concert experience for fans. Despite previous farewell tour announcements, Pete Townshend clarified that this final tour is a genuine farewell, reflecting the band's decision rather than management's marketing strategy.
