Body Recovered After Richmond Man Went Missing

Authorities recovered a male body from the York River on Tuesday morning, about 42 hours after 50-year-old Steven Kendall Wright of Richmond was reported missing near Gloucester Point Beach. Wright was last seen entering the river Sunday afternoon and did not resurface, leading to a multi-agency search including law enforcement, fire and rescue, marine police, and the Coast Guard. The body was found by Camp Peary Police roughly half a mile from the Gloucester Point Fishing Pier. Formal identification is pending examination by the Tidewater Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk. Wright's family has been notified of the discovery, and an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.
