Utah Jazz Waives Jalen Hood-Schifino After Trade

Jalen Hood-Schifino has been waived by the Utah Jazz just days after being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of a major trade involving Luka Doncic. The Jazz brought Hood-Schifino on board in a three-team deal that required them to absorb his contract; however, he never played a game for them. The trade also facilitated the Jazz's move to send Dennis Schroder to the Detroit Pistons. Hood-Schifino, who was the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, struggled with injuries and limited playing time during his tenure with the Lakers, averaging just 1.7 points in 25 games. Despite performing well in the G League, where he averaged 22 points per game, his NBA career has been hampered by injuries. Following his release, he becomes a free agent, seeking a fresh opportunity with another team.
