Patrick Grealish, a 48-year-old man from Lettermullen, Co Galway, has been charged with making online threats to kill or cause serious harm to Taoiseach Simon Harris and his family. Grealish was arrested on Sunday and brought before Galway District Court, where he was released on bail under strict conditions, including staying off social media and having no contact with the Taoiseach. Detective Sergeant Eamonn O’Neill objected to bail, citing the serious nature of the offense, but noted Grealish's cooperation since his arrest. This incident is part of a series of threats against Simon Harris, including a recent bomb threat for which another man in his 50s was arrested and later released without charge. The maximum penalty for threatening to kill or cause serious harm under Irish law is ten years in prison.
