Leighton Bennett, the former world youth darts champion, has been suspended by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) due to suspicious betting patterns identified in four of his matches during the Modus Super Series in September 2023. Along with Bennett, fellow player Billy Warriner has also been suspended for serious breaches of DRA rules, with their cases set to be referred to the DRA disciplinary committee. The matches under scrutiny involved Bennett competing against Mindaugas Barauskas, Benjamin Drue-Reus, and Ryan Harrington. The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) reported the suspicious betting activity to the DRA, which has stated that the other players in these matches are not implicated. Footage of Bennett's performance, particularly against Harrington, has gone viral, raising further questions about his conduct. Both players retain the right to appeal their suspensions, with a formal hearing date yet to be established.
