Leverkusen Blasts Bayern's Pursuit of Wirtz Amid Transfer Speculation

Bayern Munich have publicly shown strong interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, but Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has criticized Bayern for fueling transfer speculation without making any formal approach. Despite Bayern's clear desire, Wirtz reportedly does not prioritize a move to Munich and is also attracting attention from Manchester City and Real Madrid, especially if Xabi Alonso moves to Madrid. Leverkusen are frustrated by Bayern's public comments and insist there is no substance to the rumors, with Carro stating he expects Wirtz to stay and emphasizing no offers have been received. Uli Hoeneß, Bayern’s honorary president, clarified that past meetings with Wirtz’s family were unrelated to transfers and stressed that Wirtz’s contract still runs for two more years, leaving any move dependent on Leverkusen's willingness to sell. As competition for Wirtz intensifies, Bayern are also considering RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons as an alternative target should a deal for Wirtz not materialize.
