American Idol Producer, Husband Die in California Homicide

Robin Kaye, a longtime music producer for American Idol, and her husband Thomas Deluca were found murdered in their $4.5 million Encino home, with death certificates confirming they died from multiple gunshot wounds sustained on July 10. Deluca died almost instantly, while Kaye survived only a few minutes after being shot, with both deaths officially recorded as homicides. Despite a 911 call reporting an intruder at 4 PM on the day of the shootings, police did not discover their bodies until four days later after a welfare check was requested by family members. The intruder, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder; he has a history of mental illness and allegedly used the couple's own weapon for the attack. Autopsies were performed to determine the cause of death, and although initial death certificates had minor errors, these were later corrected. The couple was cremated on July 23, and American Idol released a statement expressing deep sympathy and respect for Kaye's long-standing contribution to the show.
