Dan Ashworth is reportedly in discussions to return to the Football Association (FA) for a senior role overseeing the St George's Park 2.0 project and coach development. Ashworth, who was sacked by Manchester United after a brief tenure, previously served the FA between 2012 and 2018, contributing significantly to their elite development programs. The role would involve overseeing both men's and women's teams without affecting current FA technical director John McDermott's position. His potential return to the FA comes amid concerns about the lack of English managers in the Premier League and the need to strengthen British coaching pathways. The FA has not commented on these discussions, and Ashworth’s previous exit from Manchester United cost the club £4.1 million. Despite his recent jobless stint, Ashworth has continued to advise Warwickshire County Cricket Club in an unpaid capacity.
