Investigation Launched in Bald Eagle Shooting

This law prohibits the killing or wounding of bald eagles, with first-offense penalties including fines of up to $100,000 and imprisonment for one year. Individuals with information can submit tips through the Wildlife Crimestoppers form or by calling a designated number. The illegal shooting raises concerns about wildlife protection laws and the need for public awareness regarding the treatment of protected species. The eagle was discovered approximately a quarter-mile south of U.S. 26, near Bayard.
