Justice Department Plans Interview with Epstein Associate Maxwell Amid Appeal
President Donald Trump has called the ongoing scrutiny of the Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking case a "witch hunt" and expressed support for prosecutors interviewing Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's convicted associate. The Justice Department confirmed it has reached out to Maxwell's legal team to arrange a meeting as part of efforts to uncover all credible evidence related to the case. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that if Maxwell has information about crimes committed against victims, the FBI and DOJ are eager to hear it, echoing President Trump's directive to release all credible evidence. Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence and appealing her conviction, did not testify at her trial, but her attorney affirmed she will always testify truthfully. Federal judges have ordered the Justice Department to justify its request to unseal grand jury records connected to Epstein and Maxwell by the end of July, with interested parties to submit their views by early August. Throughout these developments, President Trump has dismissed the Epstein case uproar as politically motivated, focusing instead on other political controversies during public appearances.
