Ohio State AD Gene Smith Retires

Gene Smith, Ohio State's athletic director since 2005, is retiring after a 39-year career in Division I athletics, with his last day being June 30th. Smith, recognized for elevating Ohio State's athletic programs and fostering academic excellence among student-athletes, will be succeeded by Ross Bjork from Texas A&M. Smith's tenure included significant contributions to diversity and the creation of the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute. He expressed gratitude for the support and achievements during his time and plans to enjoy retirement with his family. Bjork has already begun impacting Ohio State, with new coaching hires and preparations for transitioning the athletic department into the future.
