Pamela Anderson's iconic red swimsuit from the television series Baywatch will be displayed for the first time in Britain as part of the Design Museum's upcoming exhibition, 'Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style.' The swimsuit, which was previously owned by her co-star David Hasselhoff, was acquired by the BikiniARTmuseum in Germany for $27,000 and will be showcased alongside over 200 significant pieces of swimwear history. The exhibition will explore the evolution of swimwear from the 1920s to modern trends like Mermaidcore, highlighting societal changes regarding body autonomy and leisure activities. Other notable items include the first Olympic gold medal won by a British woman and the controversial LZR Racer swimsuit. Amber Butchart, the exhibition's guest curator, emphasized the importance of Anderson's piece as she has recently reclaimed her image and launched her own swimwear line. The exhibition opens in March 2025 and aims to reflect swimming's cultural, technological, and environmental significance.
