Ryan Crouser Wins Third Consecutive World Shot Put Title Despite Injury at Tokyo
At the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Ryan Crouser delivered a remarkable performance by winning his third consecutive world shot put title despite not having competed all season due to an elbow injury. Crouser's winning throw of 22.34 meters secured gold, marking his sixth global outdoor title and making him the first American to win three consecutive titles at both the Olympics and outdoor world championships in any individual event. Mexico’s Uziel Munoz set a national record with a 21.97-meter throw to claim a surprising silver, the first world medal in any throwing event for Mexico. Italy's Leonardo Fabbri took bronze over New Zealand’s Tom Walsh on a countback after both threw 21.94 meters. In addition to Crouser's shot put success, the U.S. also dominated the mixed 4×400m relay with a strong performance, winning gold in 3:08.80, one of the top five times ever recorded. Crouser, known for overcoming adversity, continues to solidify his legacy as the world's best shot putter amid a string of consistent victories at the highest levels of competition.
