Surveyor Fatally Hit by SUV Near Twin Cities, Investigation Underway
A 44-year-old Minneapolis man performing survey work in New Market Township, Scott County, Minnesota, was fatally struck by a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 58-year-old man from Lonsdale. The collision occurred near the intersection of Texas Avenue and 230th Street East around 11:50 a.m. on a Monday. Multiple motorists stopped to provide aid until emergency responders arrived, but the surveyor was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have indicated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, and the driver was not injured. Sheriff Luke Hennen emphasized the importance of driver attentiveness to prevent such tragedies involving pedestrians, bicyclists, and workers along roadways. The victim's identity has not yet been released pending confirmation by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
