Alstom Supplies 15 New Automated Metro Trains to Lille

Alstom has secured a €210 million contract to provide 15 additional automated metro trains to the Métropole Européenne de Lille, bringing the total number of new-generation trains ordered to 42. These new 52-meter-long trainsets will operate on Line 1, featuring the advanced Urbalis Fluence signaling system, which enhances operational efficiency through direct train-to-train communication. Scheduled for deployment in 2028, the new trains will replace the ageing VAL-208 models as part of a broader modernization initiative aimed at improving the Lille metro network's infrastructure and services. Each train can carry up to 545 passengers and includes features for improved comfort, accessibility, and safety, such as integrated video surveillance and multimedia screens. Alstom's investment underscores its commitment to advancing urban mobility solutions, positioning the Lille metro network as a more modern and environmentally friendly transport system.
