Prince William spoke on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series about the shock and strain after King Charles and Princess Kate were diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, saying it felt like "the rug pulled from under your feet." Buckingham Palace announced the King’s diagnosis in February 2024, and both the King and the Princess of Wales later stepped back from public duties to recover. The Princess of Wales has since said she is in remission following treatment, and the specific cancer types have not been disclosed. William described the emotional toll on his wife, father and their three children and said he wants to give his children security and space to process, calling 2023–24 "the hardest year I’ve ever had."
