Caleb Kennedy Sentenced for DUI Fatality
Former American Idol contestant Caleb Kennedy has pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence resulting in death, following a fatal 2022 crash in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. At 17, Kennedy drove his truck into a garage, killing 54-year-old Larry Parris, with toxicology reports showing he had THC and Prozac in his system. Initially sentenced to 25 years, the sentence was reduced to eight years, with three years in home detention, and he must pay a $15,100 fine. Kennedy must also undergo mental health and substance abuse counseling and complete five years of probation. He expressed remorse for the incident and accepted responsibility, hoping for healing for those affected by the tragedy. The crash ended Kennedy's rising career, as he had left American Idol due to a controversial video that emerged online.
