Bill Withers' Hollywood Hills Home Sold for $3.7M

The former Hollywood Hills home of legendary musician Bill Withers has been sold off-market for $3.7 million to Belwood Investments, a real estate crowdfunding firm. Withers originally purchased the home in 1998 for $714,000 and sold it in 2019 for $2.835 million shortly before his death in 2020. The property includes an original recording studio that has remained in use, hosting artists like Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth. The recent sale highlights a concerning trend where investors are increasingly purchasing properties once owned by Black individuals, potentially displacing local families. A study indicated that such investments have led to over $4 billion in lost home equity for Black homeowners over a decade. Belwood Investments intends to renovate the property, which previously belonged to a tech CEO who maintained the studio's legacy.
