Multiple US Addiction Recovery Centers Open With Expanded Capacity

Several new addiction recovery centers have recently opened or are opening across the U.S. and internationally, aimed at addressing critical gaps in treatment capacity and providing supportive environments for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Portland's 16 x Burnside Recovery Center offers 74 voluntary, trauma-informed beds for people exiting detox, aiming to fill a longstanding regional need, although some local residents express apprehension about community impact. In Mishawaka, Indiana, a former assisted living facility is being converted into a 60-bed treatment center providing detox and long-term care, with services including 24/7 medical care and trauma-informed therapy, targeting the South Bend and surrounding area. Meanwhile, Brynawel House in Wales opened Meadow Lodge, a new four-bedroom detox unit designed to provide safe, clinically supervised detoxification, bridging a key gap before residential rehab. In Lawrence, Kansas, the Avalon Wellness and Recovery Center opened in a former motel, currently with eight beds and an eventual capacity of 60, emphasizing a patient-centric approach with a staff personally connected to recovery. These facilities collectively represent a shift toward more comprehensive, accessible, and compassionate addiction recovery services tailored to community needs.
