Amazon Plans €1 Billion Belgium Investment to Boost Same-Day Delivery

Amazon plans to invest approximately €1 billion in Belgium between 2025 and 2027 to enhance its supply chain infrastructure and enable same-day delivery services. This investment will also focus on strengthening partnerships with the Belgian postal operator Bpost and supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by improving access to data functionalities and export opportunities. Amazon currently employs around 400 people in Belgium, with facilities in Antwerp and Hamme, and intends to recruit additional staff, particularly in robotics and mechatronics. The company emphasizes that the investment will help accelerate growth for Belgian SMEs, with examples such as Loop Earplugs benefiting internationally through the platform. The announcement was made during a Belgian economic mission to California, and the investment has been welcomed by regional government officials as a recognition of Belgium's innovative strengths and a boost to its technology sector. Amazon's country manager, Eva Faict, highlighted the importance of collaboration with Bpost and the need to diversify logistics partners to support the same-day delivery goal.
