Atlanta Prepares for 2025 Peach Drop Event

Atlanta is gearing up for the highly anticipated return of the Peach Drop celebration, expecting tens of thousands of attendees to gather downtown on New Year’s Eve. Headlining the event is rapper Big Boi, with extensive security measures in place, including nearly all 1,700 Atlanta police officers working 12-hour shifts to ensure safety. Chief Darin Schierbaum has warned against street racing and drunk driving, stating that special teams will be deployed to handle these issues. Additionally, streets surrounding the event will be closed starting early on December 31 to facilitate pedestrian access. Authorities are urging citizens to report any suspicious activity and to utilize the 311 line for non-emergency concerns. This year's event follows a hiatus last year, spurred by pandemic restrictions and safety concerns.
