19 Million Expected to Travel During Easter Bank Holiday

As the Easter holiday approaches, the RAC predicts heavy traffic with an estimated 19 million leisure journeys planned from April 17 to April 20, making it the busiest Easter in three years. Drivers are advised to travel before 12pm on Thursday to avoid gridlock, with the worst travel times expected between 2pm and 7pm. On Good Friday, the peak traffic will occur between 10am and 5pm, while Saturday will see busy roads from 11am to 1pm. Simultaneously, religious leaders in South Africa are being urged to promote road safety among congregants to prevent accidents during holiday travels, emphasizing that safe travel is a shared responsibility. In Zimbabwe, church leaders also echo this message, advising members to avoid night driving and speeding during their Easter observances. Additionally, Liverpool City Council encourages drivers to perform essential vehicle maintenance checks before embarking on long journeys to mitigate breakdown risks.
