Federal Agents Seize Fentanyl Enough to Kill Tens of Millions in Georgia, Nevada Busts
In two major drug busts, law enforcement seized enormous quantities of fentanyl and other illicit drugs that could potentially kill tens of millions of people. In Winnemucca, Nevada, police stopped a vehicle and confiscated approximately 20.1 pounds of fentanyl and 4.6 pounds of heroin, with the fentanyl alone capable of delivering lethal doses to more than the state's population of 3.2 million. Meanwhile, in Atlanta, authorities executed raids on multiple properties linked to Bartholomew Keeton Harralson, seizing 205 pounds of fentanyl—the largest seizure in Georgia's history—enough to kill around 48 million people, which is over four times the state's population. The Atlanta bust also uncovered hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, pill-pressing machines capable of producing 25,000 pills per hour, 28 firearms including a converted machine gun, a silencer, bulletproof vests, and substantial cash and jewelry. Harralson was federally indicted on multiple charges related to drug trafficking and firearm possession, with authorities noting his operation’s violent potential and connections to drug cartels. These seizures reflect ongoing efforts by law enforcement to dismantle large-scale drug trafficking networks contributing to the national opioid epidemic.
