Aramco, Linde, SLB Launch Major Carbon Capture Project

Saudi Aramco has signed a shareholders' agreement with Linde and SLB to develop one of the largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) hubs globally, located in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Under the agreement, Aramco will hold a 60% equity stake, while Linde and SLB will each own 20%. The first phase of the project aims to capture and store up to 9 million metric tons of CO2 annually, with construction expected to be completed by the end of 2027. This initiative is crucial for Aramco's strategy to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader climate goals. The captured CO2 will be stored underground in saline aquifers, supporting global carbon management solutions. The collaboration signifies a commitment to technological innovation and reducing emissions from conventional energy sources.
