Florida Rep. Cassel Joins Republican Party

Florida State Representative Hillary Cassel has switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, citing the Democratic Party's inadequate support for Israel and its tolerance of extreme progressive voices as her reasons. Cassel, who is Jewish and represents Florida's 101st House district, expressed her dissatisfaction with the Democrats' inability to connect with everyday Floridians. Her switch, following that of Rep. Susan Valdés earlier this month, increases the Republican supermajority in the Florida House to 87-33. Cassel emphasized her commitment to her constituents and her belief in the Republican vision for a more prosperous Florida, despite acknowledging potential disagreements with some Republican policies. Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez welcomed Cassel to the Republican Conference, highlighting the increased GOP dominance in the state legislature.
