DeSantis Awards $2.1 Million for Military Infrastructure

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced $2.1 million in funding for military-supporting infrastructure in Florida, aimed at enhancing the state's reputation as a military-friendly locale. The grants, part of the Defense Reinvestment Grant Program, will benefit organizations such as the One Okaloosa Economic Development Council and the Bay Defense Alliance, with specific amounts allocated for various projects. Notably, $122,500 will support strategies to protect local military installations, while $90,530 will help leverage community volunteer efforts for defense missions. Additionally, Bay County will receive $220,000 for an area development plan near Naval Support Activity Panama City. This initiative reflects Florida's commitment to military readiness and economic diversification, particularly in STEM industries. Since 2019, the governor has allocated nearly $6.3 million through this program to further strengthen military communities across the state.
