New York Mets right-hander Paul Blackburn has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a sore lower back, as confirmed by manager Carlos Mendoza. Blackburn was expected to return from the 15-day injured list, where he was placed after suffering a hand injury on August 23. In his place, Tylor Megill will take the mound; he has a 3-5 record with a 4.95 ERA this season. Mendoza mentioned that Blackburn's back began to feel sore on Sunday, and he will be re-evaluated in two days. The Mets are currently tied with the Atlanta Braves for the final NL wild card spot with just 19 games remaining. Blackburn's potential return for a later game in the series has not yet been confirmed.
